Mining matters for everyone – Indigenous Australians encouraged to apply for Carmichael jobs
The Clermont and Belyando (CAB) Burra Trust is encouraging Wangan and Jagalingou people to apply for jobs on offer at Bravus Mining and Resources’ Carmichael mine.
Wangan and Jagalingou Elder Patrick Malone said Traditional Owners had worked closely with Bravus Mining and Resources to create a long-term legacy that would benefit Indigenous Australians over the life of the mine.
“We’ve worked with Bravus every step of the way to ensure the mine operates with the highest respect and protection for Indigenous culture and heritage,” Mr Malone said.
“We also want to make sure our people benefit from the jobs that are available. Even if you haven’t worked in mining before – have a go and apply for one of the jobs.”
Bravus Mining and Resources Chief Operating Officer Mick Crowe said no matter your level of experience, the Carmichael mine had jobs for everyone.
“We have a range of jobs on offer at the Carmichael mine right now,” Mr Crowe said.
“It doesn’t matter whether you have worked on a mine site before, we provide job readiness support and on-the-job training.
“We take seriously our commitment to operate with mutual respect and benefit to Traditional Owners and other Indigenous people.
“Bravus works with our contracting partners to make sure Indigenous Australians can share in the economic and social benefits the mine creates.”
Bravus has an Indigenous Participation Plan which sets out objectives and actions to improve Indigenous education, training, employment and business participation in the operation of the Carmichael mine.
Details about how to apply for jobs are available at the Bravus Mining and Resources website.
